Many Pena FInalManny Peña, RHIA Chairman & CEO Connect with Manny on LinkedIN   With over 30 years of expertise in Health Information Management services, Manny Peña, RHIA is the Chairman & CEO of H.I.M. ON CALL, Inc. Manny last served as the Senior Director of the Health Information Management department for New York Presbyterian Hospital’s Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center, where due to his passion for technological advancements and the use of it in dissemination of health information management, Manny was an active hospital management staff member working closely with the Columbia University Informatics Technology department. From his understanding of the industry as well as recognizing its needs and challenges, Manny founded H.I.M. ON CALL in 1999. Since inception the company has provided services to over 100+ hospitals throughout the U.S. States & Puerto Rico with its core services of Coding & Data Quality. Currently H.I.M. ON CALL employs hundreds of ICD-9 & ICD-10 Hospital medical coders.

 


Joseph GurrieriJoseph J. Gurrieri, RHIA, CHP President Connect with Joseph on LinkedIN Joseph Gurrieri has over 20 years of experience in health information management. He is a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) and Certified in Healthcare Privacy (CHP), both from the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) and holds a bachelor’s degree in health information management from SUNY Health Science Center in Brooklyn, New York. Joseph is currently the Vice President at H.I.M. ON CALL. He came to H.I.M. ON CALL in April 2006 from the New Jersey Hospital Association (NJHA) where he was the Assistant Vice President of Information Services. Joseph has held various positions in hospitals in New York and New Jersey, including Assistant, Associate and Director of H.I.M. at Long Island College Hospital in Brooklyn, NY from 1994 to 2000, and he performed over a dozen consulting interim management/director roles in New Jersey Hospitals. With his strengths in process design, workflow, and information technology, Joseph was also the brain fund behind the development and implementation of several software applications, including a medical coding productivity and quality measurement application, a DNFB management application, and a HIPAA accounting of disclosure tracking and reporting web-based application. Joseph resides in Macungie, PA where he enjoys time with his four children.


Eileen PenaEileen Peña Controller Connect with Eileen on LinkedIN With over 15 years of experience in Finance and Business Management, Eileen Peña serves as the Controller of H.I.M. ON CALL, Inc. Eileen is highly creative, recognized as a results-oriented and solution focused individual. With great passion and determination, Eileen is responsible for the Marketing, Human Resources and Finances for H.I.M. ON CALL. Her strengths in financial analysis, budgeting, cash management, and internal and external reporting makes her a valuable asset for H.I.M. ON CALL. She is a graduate of Penn State University with a Bachelor of Science. Eileen lives with her family in Allentown, PA and enjoys spending quality time with her family.


Richie PeñaRichard Peña Director, Client Services & Business Development Richie Pena brings more than 17 years of experience in business development, human resources, training and consulting to his role as Manager of Business Development & Client Services. He also brings a vitality, professionalism and warmth, and a mindset of service and advocacy to his work with both clients and consultants. Richie’s primary focus is to build awareness about H.I.M. ON CALL Inc.’s unique capabilities among prospective clients, and develop and maintain relationships with current and new clients. Richie is also a professional drummer who has toured the world with artist such as Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds, David Foster, Andrea Bocelli and Chaka Khan. He also enjoys spending time with his family and considers himself a professional iPhone photographer.


Cassie MilliganCassie Milligan, RHIT, CCS Manager of Quality Improvement Cassie Milligan, an expert in Coding and Data Quality, is the Manager of Quality Improvement at H.I.M. ON CALL. With over 30 years of experience and thorough understanding of HIM technology systems including many encoders and EMR systems, Ms. Milligan is a talented asset for HIM ON CALL and their clients. Prior to joining the H.I.M. ON CALL team she worked as a QA Specialist in Meridian Health Systems, Jersey Shore University Medical Center division. Over the past 30 years, Ms. Milligan has held many positions in various acute care hospitals within the tristate area, building her HIM career from file clerk, lead analyst, inpatient and outpatient coder and finally, data quality specialist. She was instrumental in the implementation of a CDI program with Meridian Health Systems, while managing a full clinical coding platform conversion. Ms. Milligan has an advanced understanding of most current HIM technology systems available. She earned her RHIT and CCS credentials from AHIMA, and is a certified AHIMA ICD-10 trainer. She also holds an Associate degree in Fine Arts.


Paul StraferPaul Strafer, RHIA, CCS Coding and Education Manager Paul Strafer’s wide variety of health information experience and passion for continuing education in the evolving field of healthcare makes him a valuable asset for H.I.M. ON CALL. His experience includes ROI, DNFB Management, and Medical Coding. Paul successfully obtained both his RHIT and CCS certifications from AHIMA in 2013 and has recently obtained his RHIA credential. He also earned the 2014 Kathleen A. Frawley Memorial Scholarship through NJHIMA. Prior to joining H.I.M ON CALL, Mr. Strafer worked with several Universities, including New York College of Technology in developing curriculums and implementing full education programs for Inpatient and Outpatient coding as well as AHIMA’s CCS certification prep. Paul is also a musician and Music Instructor and enjoys spending quality time with his wife and two young sons.


Kelly M. Carovillano, RHIA Vice President of Client Operations Kelly has over 20 years of diversified experience within the Health Information Management field. Prior to her tenure with HIM On Call, Kelly served in several different roles within the HIM field, both as a consultant and a hospital HIM Director.

Kelly began her career at Overlook hospital in Summit, NJ as a medical record coder. Kelly then progressed to become the Assistant Director of Medical Records at Bayonne Hospital and then onto Director of Medical Records for Children’s Specialized Hospital in Mountainside, NJ. Kelly then took a position with the New Jersey Hospital Association’s Healthcare Business Solutions division as the Director of HIM Consulting Services. In her career with NJHA-HBS, Kelly served as the project leader for several HIM operational assessments and interim management assignments for many NJ hospitals including: St. Mary’s Hospital, Meadowlands Hospital, Hackensack University Medical Center, Bergen Regional Medical Center, RWJ Rahway Hospital, The Valley Hospital, Meridian Health Care System, Trinitas Regional Medical Center, Virtua Health, The Mountainside Hospital and St. Clare’s Health System. Kelly has also been involved in several ICD-10 provider readiness assessments.

As Vice President, Client Operations, Kelly is responsible for leading and directing HIM On Call’s operations with respect to client deliverables through well-organized processes/procedures, plans, staffing and oversight.  Her position is the head of this division and is expected to develop, implement and oversee the company’s short-term as well as long term initiative with respect to client operations.
